“Film music: the French association of film music composers (UCMF) celebrates its tenth anniversary and launches a scoring contest!"
The Union of composers of film music (UCMF) is preparing a programme of events (concerts, master classes, etc) for the ten years of its existence, which begins with a national scoring contest launched this week.
Scoring contest
On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, UCMF offers in France living composers the opportunity to write an original music inspired by pictures of the silent movie directed by Julie Bertuccelli entitled "Austerlitz / La Rapee" (2 '). The music will be mounted on the film and precisely synchronized with the image.

Other events during the 10 years celebrations
True to its adage to communicate about the specificities of the film composers’ profession, UCMF organizes from 17th September 2012 until the end of 2013, a series of events, including:
- Public lectures on the work of well-known composers with guests;
- A concert by members of UCMF presenting their work for film, television, advertising and also video games.
Patronage Committee
The original film music composition is closely related to the language of pictures: we invite you all to celebrate with UCMF and under the patronage of a committee especially constituted for the occasion: Jean-Michel Bernard, Ludovic Bource, Guillaume Conesson, Vladimir Cosma, Bruno Coulais, Eric Demarsan, Patrick Doyle, Antoine Duhamel, Philippe Hersant, Francis Lai, Jean-Claude Petit, Philippe Rombi, Claude Pinoteau, Vincent Arnardi, Maggie Rodford and Marie Sabbah.
The association
Founded on 16th September 2002 under the leadership of Greco Casadesus and Cyril Morin, UCMF has started its mission to defend and make known the specificities of a profession which is essential for movies and, more broadly, for audiovisual creation. At present, UCMF is chaired by Bernard Grimaldi and nearly 100 composers contribute through their membership to the richness of the association with their experience, sensitivity and expertise.
