MARK KILAN - John Carpenter's The Ward (2011, CD)

Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

JOHN CARPENTER'S
THE WARD

Master Of Horror John Carpenter is back — and he invites you to check into THE WARD.
1966. Night. As a storm approaches the North Bend Psychiatric Hospital, something unseen walks the halls of the isolation ward. It closes in on the small bare room of a distressed young woman.  As the storm peaks and the lighting strikes outside, the young girl screams in terror.  As dawn breaks the next day, another young woman, Kristen, disheveled and disoriented, sets fire to an abandoned farmhouse. Captured by the local police, she is remanded to North Bend where she is processed and taken to the isolation ward — the same place we have just witnessed the other young woman terrified beyond words...

In the ward, Kristen meets the other patients: Zooey, childlike and withdrawn; Iris, artistic, prim and proper; flirtatious Sarah and the group's free spirit, Emily.  While Kristen is unsure how she got there or why, she is certain that the ward has a dark secret at its core that freezes the girls into silence and she’s determined to get out — even if it’s alone.

The films of John Carpenter have inspired some of the most iconic and terrifying scores of modern times — most of them composed by Mr. Carpenter himself (Halloween, Escape From New York, Christine).   On other occasions, Carpenter has engaged the likes of Ennio Morricone (The Thing) and Jack Nietzche (Starman).  Composer Mark Kilian (Traitor) now joins the ranks and rises to the challenge of sending chills down the spines of Carpenter’s newest generation of fans.

Following well-received appearances at film festivals across the country, THE WARD opens in theatres on July 8.

HARRY GREGSON WILLIAMS - Cowboys and Aliens (2011, cd)

Product Description
Blockbuster filmmaker Jon Favreau directs Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford in an event film for summer 2011 that crosses the classic Western with the alien-invasion movie in a blazingly original way: Cowboys & Aliens.

1875. New Mexico Territory. A stranger (Daniel Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don’t welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford). It’s a town that lives in fear.

But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents — townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors — all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

Composer Harry Gregson-Williams, veteran of such blockbuster hits as The Chronicles Of Narnia, The Town and Kingdom Of Heaven, takes his first trip to the American West in his latest score.

FERNANDO VELASQUEZ - Devil (2010) (limited edition cd)

Devil
Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Music Composed by Fernando Velázquez

One of the most exciting film music talents now beginning to make a name for himself on the international
scene is Spanish composer Fernando Velázquez. Velázquez's score for Juan Antonio's Bayona's acclaimed
film The Orphanage (2007) offered us a dramatic introduction to his work. Now, with his strikingly
powerful score for the M. Night Shyamalan-produced film Devil (2010), the composer proves himself more
than able to write some of the best action and thriller film music out there. Do not miss this special edition
of a film score that will only grow in importance as the years go by and we watch the Velázquez star rise.

Trapped in an elevator high above Philadelphia, five people discover that the Devil is among them – and
no one can escape their fate. This chilling, supernatural thriller from M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense,
Signs) will keep you on the edge of your seat all the way to a heart-stopping ending with a truly wicked
twist.
