Walking With The Wounded-Everest Documentary "Harry’s Mountain Heroes" to Air on ITV1
(August 23, 2012- Los Angeles, CA) Composer Lorne Balfe (Ironclad, Assassins Creed Revelations video game) is proud to announce the television debut of Harry’s Mountain Heroes (airing on ITV1 on August 27th).
After facing life-changing injuries, a team of five soldiers who were wounded on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan took on one of the world’s toughest challenges: to scale the imposing Mt Everest.
“Harry's Arctic Heroes was the first documentary I did in connection with the Walking with the Wounded Charity,” said Balfe. “Watching their stories, I began to really realize how fortunate we all are. The challenges these soldiers face in life, let alone the unfathomable tasks they set for themselves in attempting to climb Mount Everest, are for me unimaginable. Being able to contribute to this fantastic documentary and such an important cause has been a wonderful opportunity.”
Lorne Balfe is a Grammy award- winning film composer from Inverness, Scotland. Lorne is known for composing the scores to the Dreamworks' animation Megamind, and Ron Howard's film The Dilemma, in collaboration with Academy Award- winning composer, Hans Zimmer. In addition to being recognized for producing two of Zimmer’s Oscar- nominated scores, Sherlock Holmes and Inception, Lorne has also received significant recognition for his work in the United Kingdom. In 2009, Lorne was nominated for the Discovery of the Year World Soundtrack Award for his score for BAFTA award- winning Crying With Laughter and he was nominated for the prestigious Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Award.

Complimented by his additional music, Balfe’s role as a score producer on 2008's The Dark Knight earned Lorne a Grammy™ for "Best Score Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture."
Balfe’s film and TV projects include the British made film, Ironclad, the TV anthology Five (directed by Jennifer Aniston, Alicia Keys, Demi Moore, Patty Jenkins, and Penelope Spheeris) and the Ron Howard-produced Imagin8ion (directed by Bryce Howard). His work can also be heard in the video games Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Assassin’s Creed Revelations (featuring main theme, cutscenes & multiplayer music by Balfe) and Skylanders: Giants. Balfe’s upcoming projects include Ubisoft’s Assassins Creed III, the thriller The Frozen Ground (starring Nicolas Cage and John Cusack) and Not Another Happy Ending (starring Karen Gillian).
Harry’s Mountain Heroes is a 90-minute documentary following the soldiers training in the UK with Prince Harry as they prepare to take on Everest and to overcome their physical disabilities as a team. Set against the stunning backdrop of the world’s highest mountain range you will see them as they trek, train and acclimatize for their longed for summit attempt. You will watch them as they climb up the deadliest part of the mountain; the infamous Khumbu icefall and as the expedition is eventually cancelled due to a combination of bad weather and extreme danger on the slopes above. And although their attempt this year failed, they have gained strength and learned valuable lessons that will help them all as they face life back in civvy Street again.
“Alexis Girardet, [director of Harry's Arctic Heroes and Harry's Mountain Heroes], has been wonderful to work with,” said Balfe. “His passion and enthusiasm for portraying the day-to-day lives of these soldiers shines through in the incomparable story-telling of these documentaries.”
Harry’s Mountain Heroes airs on August 27th on ITV1 in the UK.
