CLIFF MARTINEZ's "A L'origine" [CD]

The Xavier Giannoli directed movie is set in France, present day. A professional conman passes himself off as the boss of a construction site building a highway extension. He cons the whole region, hires dozens of workers and cynically enjoys the profits of his scam until he meets the lady mayor of a small village that the road will go through. She intrigues and unsettles him, before revealing to him a world he never knew: feelings. How far will he go now to save his victims and save himself from his own lies? (imdb)

MOVIESCOREMEDIA releases DAVID JULYAN's "THE DESCENT 2" on Jewel Cased [CD]

MovieScore Media announces that their CD featuring "The Descent: Part 2" by David Julyan is now available for pre-order. Also, from now on all of their CDs will be jewel cases - by public demand!

Composer David Julyan returns to the claustrophobic mines of the hugely successful 2005 horror film The Descent and develops the ominous and powerful musical landscape he created for the first film. The Descent scores are both great examples of Julyan’s very ambitious and detailed meld of acoustic and electronic music and the second score is exciting in its use of modern, aleatoric techniques within the orchestra in conjunction with eerie “under-your-skin” sound design. Anyone who enjoyed the score for the first Descent movie will undoubtedly love the music for Part 2.

QUOTING FROM INTRADA.COM

Wow! At last! Alan Silvestri's complete orchestral soundtrack for legendary Robert Zemeckis movie, released by Universal, produced by Steven Spielberg, starring Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd. Spectacular 2-CD set offers every cue Silvestri fashioned for landmark movie, presented from complete multi-track scoring session masters. CD 1 features now-iconic score used in movie. (Songs can be found on MCA label release.) But there's more! Many film fans know movie underwent changes in lead actor & serious tone of initial production. Find out now how Silvestri made changes as well! CD 2 presents early sessions featuring entire score Silvestri recorded before re-scoring with now-familiar one. Early version features darker, more serious tone in music than final version. Cool alternate scoring highlight: powerful trombone chords for initial version of Marty arriving in "Peabody Barn". Another powerful highlight: lengthy, intense action music for "George To The Rescue". Highlighting both discs, of course: early and final versions of complete "Clocktower" sequence, a genuine cinema-scoring milestone. Authoritative notes by Michael Matessino on background of production, scoring details, session dates plus great color stills complete package. Both early version and familiar "famous" version of score offer non-stop excitement! Alan Silvestri conducts. Note: While this is a limited release, we don't want anyone to miss out on this important album. For that reason, we are electing not to specify a quantity, but our Agreement allows us to exceed the usual 3000 limit. There should be more than enough to go around!

JEFF BEAL's "JESSE STONE: STONE COLD" TV score from 2005 released on limited edition [CD]

In this Robert Harmon's Tv movie, Jesse Stone (Selleck) is a New England police chief investigating a series of murders, in an adaptation of Robert B. Parker's novel.

In STONE COLD, based on the best-selling book by Robert B. Stone's old habits die hard as he continues to indulge in his two favorite things — scotch and women. When a series of murders take place, and a high school girl is raped, he's forced to face his own demons in order to solve the crimes.

The mysterious and bone-chilling score is from Jeff Beal, composer of Appaloosa, Rome, and Monk.
Jesse Stone returned in NIGHT PASSAGE, SEA CHANGE, DEATH IN PARADISE, and THIN ICE — selections from which are also included.

HARALD KLOSER'S "2012" Sound clips available from [CD]

Check out the SOUND CLIPS from the new score by Harald Kloser, composer of the Day After Tomorrow, in this new but similarly-themed movie entitled 2012.

2012 is an upcoming disaster film directed by Roland Emmerich. The film has an ensemble cast, including John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Danny Glover, Thandie Newton, Oliver Platt, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Woody Harrelson. The film will be distributed by Columbia Pictures. Filming began in August 2008 in Vancouver. The film's release date is expected to be November 13, 2009 worldwide.

Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) is a divorced father who occasionally works as a limousine driver and a writer, while his ex-wife (Amanda Peet) and children live together with her new boyfriend. In Guatemala there is word that hundreds of people have committed suicide believing the 2012 Hypothesis is true and in reaction to this, the IHC (Institute for Human Continuity) is formed, a secret organization that realizes the world is going to end and starts construction of massive space arks beneath the Himalayan mountains in preparation for the end of the world. The governments of the world give the IHC the task to save the human race when doomsday happens.

When they discover that a global cataclysm caused by the Earth crust displacement will occur faster than expected, they must race to these ships in order to save the human race before all is lost. Los Angeles is completely destroyed when the tectonic plates collapse and fall into the rising seas, Yellowstone supervolcano erupts, massive earthquakes occur in South America and The Vatican crumbles into oblivion. As worldwide floodings get worse, the US government declares the end of the world. A group of survivors, including Jackson Curtis and his family fight their way to China before they can board the great arks and save themselves from the gigantic tidal waves sweeping across the Earth.

The film explores the idea of a global doomsday event coinciding with the end of the Mayan Long Count Calendar's current cycle on or around December 21, 2012 (the northern hemisphere's winter solstice).

The much-awaited movie and score by Gabriel Yared are soon out. Check the details from varesesarabande.com and colosseum.de.

One of the most anticipated films of the fall, Fox Searchlight’s Amelia is already being touted as a major award contender.

Amelia stars two-time Academy Award-winner Hilary Swank as Amelia Earhart, the legendary aviatrix and enigmatic symbol of the American free spirit, who was guided by a profound curiosity for everything life had to offer. Ms. Earhart was the first woman to solo the Atlantic and was the first pilot, man or woman, to fly unaccompanied across the Pacific. In Amelia’s attempt to be the first to fly around the world in an equatorial flight, her life was tragically cut short with her mysterious and untimely disappearance over the South Pacific in 1937.

The soaring score is by the Academy Award-winning composer Gabriel Yared (The English Patient).

ALEXANDRE DESPLAT's "Twilight: new moon" is out on [CD]

Much awaited sequel to the teenage vampire soft-porn franchise, "Twilight", comes this "New Moon" continuation of the first movie, one that was responsible for driving the masses of teenagers around the globe mad. The first not exactly aided by the sleepy Carter Burwell score it had, this new instalment comes with an equally long-awaited (for other reasons though) musical accompaniment by hot-shot French Composer, Alexandre Desplat.

If you follow this link here to amazon.com, you'll be able to listen to the sound clips from the upcoming score yourselves.

ATLI ORVARSSON's "the fourth kind" released on [cd]

THE FOURTH KIND Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Music Composed by Atli Örvarsson

In 1972, a scale of measurement was established for alien encounters. When a UFO is sighted, it is called an encounter of the first kind. When evidence is collected, it is known as an encounter of the second kind. When contact is made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind. The next level, abduction, is the fourth kind. This encounter has been the most difficult to document … until now.

Structured unlike any film before it, THE FOURTH KIND is a provocative thriller set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where — mysteriously since the 1960s — a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered.

Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich) began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented.

Using never-before-seen archival footage that is integrated into the film, THE FOURTH KIND exposes the terrified revelations of multiple witnesses. Their accounts of being visited by alien figures all share disturbingly identical details, the validity of which is investigated throughout the film.

The thrilling and supernatural score is by Atli Örvarsson.

Universal Pictures will open THE FOURTH KIND nationwide on November 6.
