FOR THE SESSIONS AT THE HOLLYWOOD MUSIC IN MEDIA AWARDS

Soundtrack (Lakeshore Records) Features Original Music by Marco Beltrami

(West Hollywood, CA) November 16, 2012— Two- time Academy-Award® nominee Marco Beltrami, the composer of the recent Clint Eastwood film Trouble with the Curve, was honored with Best Original Score- Feature Film for Fox Searchlight's The Sessions at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards on November 15, 2012 at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood. Beltrami won over an impressive list of fellow nominees including Alexandre Desplat, John Williams, and Thomas Newman.

The Sessions tells the story of a man who lived most of his life in an iron lung who is determined - at age 38 - to lose his virginity. Beltrami created an intimate and classically oriented score. He incorporated meditative elements to embody the spirit of the story, including playing the rims of crystal bowls. The Sessions – The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack from Lakeshore Records is available digitally now and in stores.

About Marco Beltrami

Award winning composer Marco Beltrami established an early reputation as a genre innovator with non-traditional horror scores for the Scream franchise, Hellboy, Blade II and Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. Upon completing undergraduate studies at Brown University, Marco Beltrami entered the Yale School of Music on a scholarship. His pursuit of music composition then lead him to Venice for a period of study with the Italian master, Luigi Nono and then finally to Los Angeles to undertake a fellowship with Academy Award® -winning composer, Jerry Goldsmith.

Shortly after arriving in Los Angeles, Marco Beltrami landed Wes Craven’s Scream. After Scream, he went on to write his critically acclaimed score for Guillermo Del Toro’s Mimic. This was the first of several collaborations with Del Toro, including Hellboy and Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. Beltrami’s musical palette has since expanded to virtually all film genres. Beltrami has received two Academy Award nominations for Best Score. First, for 3:10 To Yuma, starring Russell Crowe and Christian Bale, and shortly after for his score to the Academy Award winning film for Best Picture, The Hurt Locker. Beltrami’s score for Soul Surfer won the 2012 Satellite Awards for Best Film Score of The Year. His most recent project is Trouble with the Curve starring Clint Eastwood and Amy Adams. Beltrami has lent his musical voice to such unique hit films as Live Free or Die Hard, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Knowing and I, Robot. His recent scores include The Woman in Black, The Thing, and Deadfall.
