Alexandre Desplat Receives Oscar Nomination for Best Score: “The King’s Speech”

(Hollywood, CA) Alexandre Desplat receives his fourth Best Original Score Oscar nomination for “The King’s Speech.” His score for the King George VI biopic recently received BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations. The composer incorporated the actual microphones of King George VI into his score, and recorded with a 90-piece orchestra at London’s Abbey Road Studio. Desplat was nominated for the same category last year, for “The Fantastic Mr. Fox.” His current projects include “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II” and “The Tree of Life,” starring Brad Pitt.

Desplat has won the World Soundtrack Award five times out of six nominations for Best Original Score and Film Composer of the Year.
